Tire Goodness
Yeah, mine are toast on the Bonneville..rears have VERY little side tread left and are on the wear bars, fronts arent a whole lot better..also..they wobble on the highway now..
SO
Since i only use my car in the summer time..im not to worried about snow performance
Been looking at 245/50/R16..for sure
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=0
Thats at the top of my list currently
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=4
I know those take a beating
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires....e1=yes&place=5
Ratings look alright..Tread looks meating enough for the track...

I am half way through the second set of GS D3'* on the Jetta.
I will put a third set on when this one is done.
They are great in the corners and superior to anything I have tried in the wet.
Keep in mind, they are not the best drag tire, they are an 18k to 20k mile tire, they do not like cold. When it gets down around 50*f (10*c) they start to turn into rocks. When the weather gets that cool it takes me 2 or 3 miles before they are warmed up enough to be better than an average all season.
Not trying to discourage you but, keep in mind any tire classified as a summer tire will lose grip when it gets cold.

I like the Eagle F1s, alway loved their tread patterns. I would buy them in a heartbeat just for the pattern. Unforunately I have to live with extreme weather, it can be 20 tomorrow then 85 after tomorrow. So I have cheap *** tires, avoid them, they're called National something. Sucks in the rain and cold period.
My vote is the Eagles. If you got the money and a winter beater (which you do) go for it
