Default 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse turbo downed

This afternoon I swapped the oil filler cap out for a crank-case vent/oil filler cap, and also gutted the air-box since the CAI I had in the 1994 won't fit in the 99 due to the PCM being right where the filter sits in the 94. I guess I'll have to cut the last bend in the pipe so I can put a K&N Exstreem in.
Anyhow, after I did the vent and gutted the box I went out to cruise around. Drove over to Melrose (10 miles away on I-94) to drive by my cousins house. As I was pulling back on the main road out of town a Turbo Eclipse (automatic) pulled up behind me and started riding my bumper (I was going about 35 in a 30 zone). As we are pulling away from the last stop sign on the way out of town he started to pass me - not gonna pass this Bonneville. Kicked it down. He got his front bumper even with my front door, and after that I started pulling away. Ran up to about 95 and had about 8-10 car lengths on him (still in the left lane of 2 lane road). At 95 I let off and he passed me with both the driver and the passenger giving my the thumbs up with big grins . That was one sweet kill.
After he passed me we kept driving down the road at a brisk pace because the road has a bunch of fun turns, dips, and hills. After about 5 miles he pulled over to the side of the road and I pulled up next to him. Turns out the kid driving is 16 w/no job and his passenger was (looked like about 12) 15. Anyhow they were good natured punks and thoroughly enjoyed being whooped. Apparently the kid drivings' parents have a 2001 Bonneville SLE and he wanted to see how an 'old' Bonneville compared to his Eclipse as his dad and uncle had raced the Eclipse against the SLE when they bought the Eclipse this past summer. Since then the kid has put a CAI, and a Dynomax muffler on (couldn't believe it was a ricer muffler) .
Damned good first kill. And using normal shift mode too.

Side note: The Perform shift is actually a normal shift, peform shift of is a softer shift.

Good kill! Does he know that your "Old bonnie" is only 2 years older and has a SCed engine of the SLE?

GSX is faster off the line, so it'll prolly nail you 0-60, but they're actually like a tenth slower than the GS-T in the quarter because of the added weight

back in the days of highschool, our school had alot of DSM'*, the 2nd gen'* are pretty nice looking, if there done right, ive seen alot of "fast and the furious" wanna-be'* that make me want to puke. 1 kid had a auto talon, fwd turbo. he even said himself its way slower than 5 speeds, GS-T or GS-X, he said he wasn't much faster than a 5 speed RS

Sweet Kill Man. A turbo'd eclipse is a kill to be proud of yourself for. And your car looks sweet. The turbo'd eclipses are fast. The older style models, like the 90'* are pretty quick to. But the 90'* eclipse, the talon, and the lazer all pretty much look the same. Except for a little difference in the tallights but that'* it. I'm planning on supercharging my 90 se and I'm gonna see how it matches up with a turbo'd eclipse, probably get my *** handed to me, but oh well. Great kill. Give yourself a pat on the back for that one.
