Bonneville & SSEI Name Origins
If I'm not mistaken, I'm aware that the Bonneville name refers to the Bonneville Salt Flats. To what does the SSEI name refer? Thanks for your help. :?:

Although he never visited the salt flats, the area is named in honor of Captain B.L.E. Bonneville, whose expeditions in the 1830'* proved the area was part of an ancient basin.

I think Bonneville is derived from the French words Bon with means good and ville which means town.........Good Town car.
I have told this story many times but when I bought my 2000 SSEi it was the first year of the new model and when I was in Los Angeles I went to THE car show and there was a GM exhibit showcasing the new SSEi. The display billboard advertised the following:
* - Safety......and listed all the special unique features of safety like the new Stabilitrak system, , that was first offered that year, anti-lock, traction controletc...
* - Security ....and listed all the special unique security features like the pass key, alarm system, etc....
E - Efficiency .... and listed the Supercharged engine and great fuel mileage, , etc.
i - intelligent..... and listed the computerized systems features..
Yes it was all sales hype and the true meaning is nothing more than a play on competing with the BMW xxxi models.

I glad they didn't name it that or we would all be driving Geraldinevilles right now
