Smile 1996-1999 or 2000+?

I'm still saving up for my new Bonneville, one with a supercharged engine.

My question is, is there anything about the 2000+ SSE or SSEi that makes it better than the 96-99 SSE or SSEi? Besides the exterior.

[I don't want to compare SSE and SSEi. Just the years. Like a 2000+ SSE vs a 99 SSE]

I'm just looking to see if I can save money, too. If the difference between a 99 and a 2000+ was around 1000, i'd spend it to upgrade if the car was that much nicer.. I'd be happy with either one, but I was just looking for openions on which is better.

Skip the 96 if you want to mod. 97 to 99 will be your best price. The 2000+ has less room under the hood. Not to sure if there'* much of a difference between the engines.

Well, I do want to mod it. I'm actually thinking about going to school for that kind of stuff.

But yeah aside from a few small differences, i'm pretty sure the engines are the same. I haven't had a chance to check the specs, all the sites are blocked here

But yeah really the engine was what I was wondering about the most.

But ah, if only I afford to get a GXP... A kid can dream

If I had to choose from 96-99, I would go with 99
The 99 had the best refinements in the motor over the previous years

If I had to choose from 2000-2005, I would go with a 2004
The 2004 still had a 3.8 Supercharged motor possibly the 05 not sure

The 2000+ had better suspensions and brakes as well

My 0.2 cents

I agree with Toddster, i'm partial to 2000+ only because i own one lol, but it does have a nicer suspension FE3 or FE2, i'm leanin towards FE2, and you have 4 wheel disc brakes that give you plenty of stopping power and room for improvement to mod them

Toddster, actually 2003 was the last year for the L67. Two-thousand four and 2005 is when they introduced the v8. Sorry just thought I'd point that out.

Glad I could be of assistance!

I agree though 1999 Pontiac Bonneville is the best one in my opinion! The ninth gen. Bonnevilles have the same, but different problems as well. Your best bet would be to either get a 1999 SSEi or a 2003 SSEi. Remember to change those gaskets to aluminum!

It'* a predominate problem with all. If it hasn't happened to you...just wait it will. My 2000 Bonny just rolled over 95K and I suspect that mine is going. So...gaskets are on the way!
