Default Here'* a crazy idea

I have a 2005 chevy impala that used to be an ex rcmp car. For 1. I've been told it has a supercharger and I'm not quite sure it dose. So dose it? And 2. I its currently fwd but I have access to a fabricator so I'm thinking about making it a Mid engine Rwd. And making a kick *** little bush buggy out of it. What transmission and rear end could I use that would all mount up together. Putting mounting points on the existing frame aside i will be re enforcing the structure of the car and creating new mounting points. Any thoughts or idea would be greatly appreciated.

Take a pic of the engine, then we can tell you.

You will need a trans out of a RWD 3800 based car. Firebird etc, then shorten the driveshaft. But still, the engine would be practically sitting right next to you due to the length of the eng/trans/driveline.

You would be better off, just transplanting the entire FWD setup and sub-frame assy to the rear end and leaving out the 1500RWD rear end.

So if I replace the rear end with the front end then I should be able to put the motor in the back seat. And have a Rwd off the transmission that is on it. But what do I do with all the steering components

No, use the same trans/engine/front wheels etc., Just lock them in place. Get another subframe assy and put that in front.

Okay so this is probably a 9C1 package.

The 9C1 never came with a supercharger, no matter the platform or generation. I've driven a few active units of this generation (and I always check fluids before driving someone else'* well-beaten anything) and they did not have superchargers. To be extra certain: How many belts does yours have?

. . . and you have $20,000.00+ ($28,007.00 Canadian) to put into this $2,000.00 ($2,800.70 Canadian) car? . . .

. . . that will still be outdone in most ways by many Jeeps and pickups that cost a quarter as much?

At this level of fabrication, there are nearly countless combinations. You are essentially hand fabricating a vehicle that happens to have the carcass of a 2005 Impala involved. You could use a Ford 5.4 with a 6R80 transmission, or a GM 3800 with a 4L60 from a Firebird, or a Hemi Hellcat with a 8HP transmission, or a Chevy 350 with a turbo 350 transmission, or a Pontiac 265 V8 with a 250C Metric transmission, or a LS1 with a 4L60 transmission, or a Rambler 195 inline 6 flathead with a Flash-O-Matic transmission, or a GMC Sierra 1500 4.3 V6 engine and 4L60 transmission, or a Dodge V10 with an A618 transmission or . . . I could go on for pages.

Except: To fit any rear-drive drivetrain into this chassis, you'd have to (1) put the engine in the front passenger seat and have it all at an angle, or (2) put the engine in the front passenger seat and have an offset rear axle, or (3) stretch the body and chassis, or (4) put the seats on the roof.

This is a unibody, so this part will take a zillion hours by an experienced fabricator.

Looking forward to seeing how this goes.

. . . or . . . make it a 4-wheel-steering car. Wouldn't that be cool? Could even convert to a Northstar V8, a L67 3800, or a Volvo B6294S 2.9 inline-6 engine. All three will work with your transmission.

If you don't know how to tell if you have a super charger by looking at the engine I highly recommend you not attempt doing anything you are talking about.

I want to put at least 40 inch tires on the rear to make clearance for them to turn would cut out half the car
