Default Traction control questions......

I may be buying a 1995 pontiac bonneville that has traction control.....What does this exactly do and what can go all wrong with it......... I took my moms 1999 olds intrigue 3.5 Twin cam car and had the traction control on and i burnt out 2 times and it generated a suddle clunk when shifting between gears (probally not cause of traction control but a car with 44k miles should not have a clunk in the tranny)

Traction control for a 95 uses applied braking AND torque management (timing retardation) in the PCM.

As for what may go wrong, the wheel speed sensors are know to fail and rquire chaging out the wheel hub assembly. the other devices are more staic and seldom fail (ie accelometer, yaw sensor etc.)

there are no accellerometers or yaw sensors in a 95

PMV, EBCTM, wheel speed sensors.
