Default Rock struck and broke my windshield...

Was driving home when there was a pickup truck on the right lane and I was on the left. He was from some concrete company (not a concrete truck!). Well we were comming up to a stop at an intersection when somehow a friggin rock which defied gravity got airborne and struck my windsheld and made a pretty nice break on it. It seemed to have come from him and he was at least 2 car-lenghts ahead of me. I aleady have a crack on the windsheld that spans half of it in the middle but that was from before. So I got the number of the company down but I dont know what to do next. How much is the windsheld replacement and should I let the dealer or local body shop do the fix and do I take the bill to that concrete company or bring it up to insurance? Thanks.

Call the company first. They will generally help out if one of thier vehicles was involved

i think insurance is your best bet. this kinda seems all "accidental" to me. i say call your insurance company, and see what they have to say about the whole thing.

I think most states have non-deductable glass replacement. I know *.C. does.

Wouldn't hurt to call the Co. but, they'll just prolly tell ya' they aren't responsible for objects coming from road.

I went through a spree of windshields. (my truck is a 2000 and has already had 5 in it) call insurance company and tell them your windsheild was cracked by a rock that got thrown up. They'll ask if you saw where it came from and you say that you believe it came from this truck and here'* his information. You'll get the new window and they'll probably try and get reimbursed by the other guys insurance company.

you need to first see if you carry comprehensive insurance because that is what would cover glass breakage. then you will be subject to deductible for the repair. Trust me ive been there several times. Also, if you have comp the ins. company will have a list of reputable shops that they will pay directly.

I forgot about having to have comprehensive coverage. Just liability won't cover it.
I always carry full coverage on anything I drive and it completely slipped my mind!!!!!!!

I just had my windshield replaced. It was about 160$ for labor and parts. I was able to make friends with the guy though, otherwise it would of been 280$ I think.

Just had mine done last week. Total cost for my 2000 ssei was $800 thanks to the HUD. Comprehensive covered the claim and I paid my deductable. Dollars are in canadian. Stone came up from a car going the opposite direction so I couldn't blame anyone else for the claim! :(

Yep, that'* what I'd do... if you have the comprehensive coverage as mentioned. Otherwise call the company directly, try to get the boss on the phone, and see how cooperative they'll be. Tell 'em your just a poor kid that can't afford the window, and they'll hopefully help out!
