Luxury cars tend to be ahead of there time. ABS, infrared, backup camera, GPS, you name it, people willing to pay, it will be there.

When you look at the technology that was deployed in these cars back when they first appeared, it was definitely ahead of its time. Kind of rudimentary now compared to what the newer cars have, but still impressive.

Pontiac and Oldsmobile were always the brands to test new technology for General Motors. The Toronado was the first GM car to be front wheel drive - all the way back in the 1960'*. The Pontiac 6000 had a DIC system years before it appeared in other cars. Then pontiac brought back fuel efficient, powerful engines through the 3800.

Thats it in a nutshell. Rico, when you have some time, you should go to a Caddy Dealership and check out an XLS. Their headup display, radar, Nav systems, and total electonic control, etc, etc, even make my GXP look "Model T'ish "

John, don't you mean the XLR-V? The XLR-V has the Supercharged Northstar V-8 which delivers 443 hp at 6,400 rpm and 414 lb-ft at 3,900 rpm and will do 0-60 in 4.6 seconds. This car is not only a hot rod, it'* a true work of technological art.
