Default 1988 SSE Northstar Turbo?

hey guys,

i just joined this site so bear with my stupidity for a while

i have a 1988 bonneville SE im currently looking for SSE front and rear bumpers, rear deck lid spoiler, and rear SSE tail lights, im located in Toronto Ontario canada, so if anyone around localy that has any of these parts please to let me know

I am looking for bonneville front head light black outs, and currenltly i would like to know if there are any replacement Billet or any kind of aftermarket grill for my 1988 bonny.

Now that i get my shopping list out of the way lol

i am currently am an apprentice mech. 1st year, very newbie and younge however experienced with mazda rotories, and pontiac fiero V8 swaps, ive decided to get into Luxury highway cruisers as i like to refer to them thats y i decided on a bonneville. My question is ive build a few Turbo kits for 2.8, 3.1, and 3.8s however im more looking into the possibility of a 32v 4.6l northstar V8 swap into my 88. Ive noticed in these bonnevilles that there is a ton of room. because on a similar powerplant vehicle 1988 cutlass ciara with the same engine there is hardly any room to work with, so i was wondering my goal or primary idea is to turn this 88 into a SSE-N* im sure that a L67 OBD II SC motor can be done with relative ease cause the blocks are almost the same with the 88 and physically it will work with some convincing. But im seriously considering a north star Turbo Setup with a light 6-7 psi of boost, in this bonneville, i know i'll figure out a way to do eventually however can the later model bonneville Engine cradle be used for better motor mount placement and what not? any info on possible kits available?

any who its late, let me know what you guys think about the North Star swap pro'* cons, maybe the 3800 SC OBD 2 is a better swap i dont know thats y i want to get you guys in put

thanks alot for your time i hope to hear from many of you

Well, I know that Scott Cook, from INTENSE bought a GXP with the N*, and he hasn't been able to find jack for it, as far as aftermarket goes.
I'd stick with a Series2, it'* a strong motor, lots of potential, and there'* even an upgrade from INTENSE to swap out the M90 SC for an MP112, if you go that far. Also, I think that the engine mounts you have in that 88 Bville would mate up to the Series2 pretty easily, whereas the N* would be a stone b*tch to fabricate for.

I can't answer your question, but if you were to successfully put a Northstar in an 88 you would officially be a GOD. If you search around there are a couple of threads about swapping a series II L36 into an 87-91 Bonne, and it is doable.

Good luck finding taillights for your bonne. I have a 90 SSE and have been looking for new ( good used) tails. They are like gold. GM only makes one of them now, it is 600$ for the one light and it comes in 3 pieces that you have to glue together yourself.

You will probably have to go looking for wrecking yards and find the parts you need that way. The first thing you will see missing on those cars however is the tails and headlights.

Gm still makes the old SSE tails? is there really a demand for 600 dollar lights?

They stopped making one of the lights, so you can really only buy the light for one side of the car. Yes thee is a demand for SSE rear tail lights but NOT at 600$. No wonder they aren't selling, lol.
