Default creaky old bonneville

If it'* freezing outside, or if it'* above 50, my car floats down the road with not a sounds to be heard. But when it'* cold outside and you crank the heat of, every piece of plastic starts creaking and making snapping sounds, especially from the passenger side, especially when you step in the brakes, it sounds like the car is in a crunch. It really sounds awful, but there'* really nothing I can do, it'* just annoying, anyone else in the northern states notice this?

My 99 creaks a lot too. Especially now that the mileage is starting to get up there.

haha nope I'm pretty sure it'* the car

My friend'* cutlass supreme (1997) has 245k miles on it and It has no plastic creaks at all, at least nothign liek mine. But like I said, it'* only when you turn the heat on.

They must have used some low grade plastics in this interior then?

A lot of cars creak when turning the heater on. My dad'* Durango does it after sitting overnight and then turning the heater on, very common in alot of cars.

hmm, yeah mine has a little of that temp change flex/expand noises. mostly its just age rattles when i'm driving. most the roads i go over are AWFUL so my car has developed alot of creaks and rattles anyways, so i really cant differentiate. even my passenger seat is loose i can move it!

mine is so awful though, I mean if that heaters on and you hti a bump, it sounds liek the plastic inside the dash is just snapping and breaking. Going down really realyl nasty roads though, liek offrad, it doesn't rattle or squeek at all. It'* liek you have to drive down nasty roads to loosen everythign up so it won't snap anymore

Uh yeah. I think the Pontiacs of the 90s are far and away the worst examples and offenders when it comes to the cheap look and feel of the General'* interiors in the 1990s. Everything in my car looks and feels a bit naff to me. Shiny, blobby, rough mold edges, hard hard plastics, nothing seems to be attached very well. I actually tore a filler panel out of the center console, thinking it was a flip-around cupholder because it felt so flimsy.

At least it all seems to hold up pretty well, and mine doesn't rattle *too* badly. Just looks and feels crappy to the touch. My mom'* '97 LeSabre looks and feels much more well-made inside.
