It'* looking like there will be some new boost in the club soon. Stay tuned.
And BTW, about the 89...since it'* worthless and will cost too much to safety, I have worked it out with some relatives and I can store it at thier farm (in a barn at that) for any amount of time...I can come back to it in 5 years or whatever and pick up where I left off when I have some money and a decent job.
It looks like a may be the proud owner of a 1996 SSEi and a temporarily retired 1989 SSE soon.

Sounds like a fantastic plan. Don't forget to take pics (yes, even if it is snowing) as soon as you get it.

Not to rain on your possible purchase, but you might want to ask
him what happened to the Dex-cool in the recovery tank. The overflow
hose has a recent hose clamp on it as well as a new upper radiator
hose. I suspect some past or present overheating problems. Quiz
the owner.
To be honest ( IMHO) the car does NOT look like it was taken care of.
Go back and check these things : Pull trans stick and look at color and
smell it to be sure it'* not burned. Do the same with the oil.
Put your finger under the snout near the pulley and feel for any leaks
from the SC.
Inspect the exhaust manifolds for any visible cracks.
Lay under the car and check for leaks AND rust issues.
Look down at the water pump and make sure you do not see any signs
of past or present leakage.
Let us know how you make out. Don't do anything rash until you have
inspect the car completely. If not, you could wind up with a expensive
load of new problems.
Good luck !

I see coolant in the overflow. It'* slight bit low..but Dex will evap to a certain degree.
Fresh clamp on the overflow hose... yup.. might have been a rad replacement. I notice a new top rad hose..the sticker is still on it. Might have just replaced all the hoses, including overflow.
Agreed on checking the fluids..and any person selling a car should either know the oil is good or change it to sell. So it should look good.
Exhaust manifolds don't seem prone to cracking like 92-95 were.
SC doesn't look wet around the pulley
If you notice though..the power antenna is broken
The SC cover is an early 96 I think..cause it'* all gray.

Captain...
a nice ride with upward potential. I like the rims. I've always liked the ghetto golds. Power antenna is an easy fix- I've done two of them. and a good engine shampoo looks like all the engine needs.
However- I have worked with a lot of leather seats- any you will more than likly be able to remove the dirt from the darker colored areas- parts that have different shades of tan- that leather is foobared...nothing that you can do about that :( except replace the whole cover. or is you're more adventureous you could get the leather from a pass. seat and swap the vinyl.
Either way nice captain!
