Thats why I have etched glass ones, because they are hard to read, but they are still there.

So I suggest people get etched glass ones.

But I would like to add to this suggestion.

Could we make the vin registry PRIVATE? Maybe showing a couple of the sequential numbers as private?

Like

Mine...

1G2HX54C3KW256332

1G2HX54C3KW***332

But it can be seen by mods and admin?

I know theres holes in this idea too, but maybe someone can think of something better? Because I really like this VIN registry idea.

this is all information which you can get just by opening a phone book. why live in fear? it wouldnt have to be accessable by anyone except mods or whatever, when neccessary. you could just have users type in their VIN and it would give a history of that VIN within the club, if there was one.

Not trying to be a jerk...you may want to read the posts in the thread.
This was one above that led me to the deduction of the club stickers and when WJ said he had etched glass ones on..

FWIW, I've had to change my telephone number twice because of this Forum. Data privacy is paramount. In addition, posting your email address on a public forum leaves you open to spambots who search the internet daily for spam targets.

Personal information (including VIN numbers) should never be shared. While it would be safe to leave it only visible to the Admins and Moderators, databases have been hacked in the past, including our own.

What would be the main benefit(*) to such a registry, and would those benefits outweigh the risks?

ok, so on the topic of club stickers... why have them if they are hard to see? aren't they for advertising? Your not going to let anyone know about the club if they have to squint to read it

I have em there so people can see them, but not enough so that if someone has a tiff at me on the road, that they can read them there.

i just don't like the look of the REALLY OBVIOUS ones.
