Don and I have considered this in the past, and it was posted, and lost in the crash. We just discussed it again. The reasons for NOT doing it:

1. We don't want to 'commercialize' this board. The members appreciate the lack of advertising and popups. With the only advertising limited to the vendor'* signature, it keeps the forum more unobtrusive. A Vendor rank would lean towards the 'commercial' attitude that we strive to avoid.

2. BC does not 'sponsor' or endorse any vendor on this site. We allow vendors membership, but nothing more. By creating this rank, it would APPEAR as if BC were backing the vendor.

3. MOST IMPORTANT: Members need to feel that they are on equal footing with the Vendor. With the Vendor being a member as well, just as their customer, the customer feels more at ease confronting the vendor here when they feel it'* necessary. If there were a special rank, and the Vendor appeared to be backed by the board, this would be less likely to happen.

4. The next person that makes an intake might want that Vendor rank for 'status'. It can be very difficult to manage the members who feel they may qualify for this status.

We strive to find good Vendors to support our membership. I think we've done a pretty good job. We've had to weed some out, and recruited others. Some will go the way of SC Performance and FLOZ, others will come to replace them. The links page and our membership will change from time to time to reflect this (When Floz was blacklisted, he was banned as well.....3 times as I recall ).

The links page will be updated soon to reflect our Vendors more accurately, but we will not be able to add a Vendor rank at this time.

Deathrat, are you just trying to be "the cream of the crop"?

CBN means nothing to me, and frankly you're the only one whose made a big deal about it. If a rank is that important to you, then maybe you should post answers to questions and problems. That'll get my respect more then whining about ranks and vendor status.

Not really, just wondering what initiated Jason'* explosive response. I didn't see anything from Rat to spark this. Maybe i'm just stupid...

Rogue, see page one of this thread (very bottom) and keep it in perspective of the recent announcement concerning the rank changes up in lounge. It should be pretty clear.

Ah, there was an ammouncemenet in the lounge about ranks instead of in the announcements. Thats why I didn't see this...I don't go into the lounge much.

Thanks

Well Jason I think that most of use here know that unlike some people he DOES ANSWER QUESTIONS. Maybe you don't think that he knows what he is talking about, but he hasn't posted as much as he used to since he has other priorities in life besides this one forum. If he doesn't have the information he usually doesn't answer it.

As for this vendor thing it is fairly simple. If a person wants to be recognized as a vendor they should be able to prove that they poses a business license and have some kind of place that they sell product as in an online store or a real physical store.
