How somewhere to post our drag racing times?
Hey Willwren (or to whomeever it may concern),
It would be cool to have a page on this forum where we can go to list our times (I know the Shelby-Dodge club has one and it really helps to see what other people are running). We could make it so it says:
Name Year/Make/Model Engine 1/8 or 1/4 Time Trap Speed Mods Track
Just a thought
TIA,
Stylez

I know from experience that Club GP'* page has started some heated debates at times due to false claims & inacurate time slips. So unless someone keeps a very close eye on that section/page, I wouldn't recommend it.

You are right. I forgot to say that a picture of the timeslip should be taken and posted elsewhere (homepage, cardomain, etc..) and only the moderators would have access to posting, therfore if you want your time listed you would have to notify a site moderator, give them a link to you pic of the time slip and then if they believe it is correct/true/yours then the moderator will post it.
How'* that sound? If none of the current moderators want to take care of that maybe they could appont a new one for that sole purpose.

We'd need some web-savvy guru to set this up. The PHP software doesn't have this ability. This would mean Jeff'* buy-in and support. I hesitate to do this for the same reason the Rat just mentioned. When our members do occasionally post times, we get alot of flames from other clubs. For the time being, performance or kills are the places to post these things.
We could set up a forum that only an Admin or Mod could post in, assuming a member sent his timeslip to that admin/mod. Without the slip or other proof, there would be no posting. Posting the timeslip would mean it was already uploaded somewhere. Not all members have that ability, but the Admin or Mod would have seen it personally. Some of us don't have access to a local track, either. I have to rely on a G-tech to prove my times, but I suppose a photo of the Gtech'* reading may suffice.
I'll have to defer to Jeff on this one.

If somebody feels ambitious and wants to code up a robust timeslip system using PHP4 and MySQL that authenticates against the PHPBB user table, PM me and let'* discuss it.
Unfortunately, I don't have time to code something up.
The idea of a restricted access forum might work. Or, to stave off forum bloat, perhaps there could be a sticky locked thread in "Kill Stories" or "Performance" containing the authoritative list of Bonnie times.

If someone is willing to tackle the code, that would be great, otherwise we can pursue the 'sticky' locked thread. Only an Admin or Mod would be able to post your times AFTER they were verified.
Is this something we want to try? If so, somebody email me a timeslip and stats, and we'll try it.
