What size pulley for me?
I know there is a forum right there with the samequestion in it but I'm not exactly down with the lingo.
I need to know what size pulley would do the most for me. I have a fenderwell intake kit and that'* about it for the motor. I don't really have the luxury of being able to not drive my car for a period of time while I would wait on someone to work on my PCM.
So should I go 3.4 or 3.5? I want as much horsepower as possible but this will probably be the last thing I mod next to a 180 stat.

Well I could either just get both sizes and go to autozone or get that kind of scanner that fits in the airvent and just one size.
Would actane booster help with KR?

You going to bump your octane all the time? Most over the counter octane booster will gain you .1 octane per dose. POINT one. And Autozone won't let you borrow the scantool for WOT runs to check for KR. It must be done while driving.
An Aeroforce scangauge would be a good idea if you're going to play the SC pulley game.

As Willwren mentions the pulley size is a bit of a game. We can recommend a 3.5 knowing most cars will run very well that way. An Aeroforce gauge would be a very good investment. Also, if you are considering the 3.4/3.5 pulleys... a good way to determine which is actually best for your situation would be to pick up the MPS or multi pulley system. This way you could buy both pulley'* and swap as necessary.

Is it really so hard to change a pully without buying a multipulley system. What I would like to do is be able to swap pulleys anytime between stock and whatever else I get.
Now what is Knock Retard, how bad is it, long term effects if left unchecked?

Long term effects can be holes in pistons, burnt valves, etc if there is too much. Knock retard is where the timing is retarded and if it cannot go anymore, it will knock and ping, resulting in what I said about holes in pistons and burnt valves, piston rings.

hmm. I might wait a while before I get into that ball game. I mean it seemed simple enough at first; get a $70 pulley and get 30 horses. But like 250 for the aeroforce and then maybe a different pulley and then potential damage to your car. Bleh. I think I'll just be happy I have a car with double the power of my last one for now.
hey thanks for all the know-how, this forum is really great, whatever I need to know I can find out within 3 hours.

Modular pulley system will make it much easier, although if you get the special pulley puller you will need its not too much trouble, you probably wouldnt be changing much at all.You will probably be ok with 3.5 with a CAI or FWI , 180 thermo,1 range cooler plugs and being able to eye the KR with aeroforce.I have no KR with this setup.3.4 would prolly be a different story but the 3.5 has kept me happy for now.
