Supercharger on an unsupcharged 99 Bonni
I have a 99 Bonni here and it came unsupcharged, im looking at adding a supcharger to her but i do not know all of the details. Can you guys give me some advise as to what i would need to add a supcharger, what kind of supcharger, where to get it ? any other modifications needed ? Im curious also as to how the stock bonni fuel map is going to keep up with the psi the supcharger is going to put out , any ideas guys ?
Thanx
Do you think i should just go to a junkyard and rip some of the neccessary components out of a supcharged bonnie ?

Look in the Techinfo section. It'* not worth blowing a L36(non-supercharged). The engine internal are different as well as the countless other things. It would be cheaper to Turbo it. When in doubt look in the Techinfo. Welcome to the Club!

I looked in the tech info and did not find anything...
I'm actually asking these Q'* for my buddy, but im curious as to what kinda weak internals are in this engine he has, how weak ? I have a D series small./weak internaled engine in my car and ive been pushing 14psi at it for over a year now with no problems, i have a stand alone engine managment system and have dyno'd it many times to get it perfect but my engine is roughly half the size as these bonnies and as i beleive the bonni sc only pushes with the stock pully about 7psi or so, so im wondering how my little weak D series internals can withstand 14psi and these big ol bonnie moters cannot stand half that ? also my engine has over 140k on her...
Thanx again

Try that link. The L36 and L67 look the same on the outside but inside it'* a whole different monster. Changing pulleys on the supercharger should get the boost up to 12-13 I think, outside air condition will change the amount of boost the charger will put out. Also what year bonny does he have?
The link above will answer all your ?*

hmm... I'm still not getting it here, see my engine is a little 1.6L dinky little D series engine... I added a electromacneticly clutched m62 eaton blower, fpr, 440cc injectors, intercooler and blow off valve, and smaller pully to bring her up to 14psi, and a fuel managment system to piggyback off the ecu and a couple other things... the thing i dont get is, ill bet that my internals, actually im pretty posative my internals are alottt weaker then my buddys 99 bonnie engine, so i dont see why he would have to buy new internals ? I dont know much about domestic engines, im probibaly over looking a few things here but i just cant seem to grasp it...

"The heads are different, the lower intake is different, with different injector placement, the fuel rail is different, and the compression ratio is also different. And pushrods, lifters, and rockers. Now we get nasty. The L67 gets a heavy-duty Transaxle, too. Either the 4T60-E(HD) or the 4T65E(HD). Then there'* the PCM. And the engine wiring harness to go with it. This doesn't even get into the little things."
This all come from the Techinfo section, your buddy COULD supercharge is engine but he would need to change out almost all the things in the paragraph above to make it work. You just can't bolt on a blower to a L36 and expect it to work, you would need PCM, wiring harness, fuel rail, and all the above mentioned things(and the one not mentioned). I don't have a supercharger on mine. Maybe someone with one could step in and help out more?

why would it be cheaper ? eaton blowers are cheap eaven without the electromagnetic clutch. I would guess that he would just need the blower, pully, belt, and either a fuel managment system or some kinda chip to up his fuel map to meet the psi, seems cheaper to me then a whole engine set up...
i got my eaton m62 with the electromagnetic clutched pully system for roughly 300 bux i beleive, and ive seen m90'* for around the same price...
p.*. how are you guys mounting the blowers on your rides ? inplace of the intakemanny ? or front mount (custom bracket) ?

Here'* the deal. Your little 'dinky' motor running 14psi of boost isn't capable of the power that the 3800 is. We're talking nearly 300 ft/lbs of torque here! Out of a V6! This can rip the guts out of an everyday tranny in no time.
There'* no comparison. Given time, your dinky will blow. Especially being a high-compression high rpm motor.
These 3800'* make all the power down LOW....where you need it, and produce an amazing amount of torque....especially when supercharged. That'* why they need the strong internals.
