Any harm from running w/o supercharger belt?
My daughter-in-law just got a 2000 SSEi Saturday. Today the grooved pulley on the supercharger belt tensioner disintegrated when the bearing seized and the belt was destroyed. As the main belt drives everything else and was unharmed, is it okay to drive the car like this for a day until we can replace the pulley and belt? Will any harm be done to the supercharger from driving it without it spinning? It doesn't seem so, but I thought I better put it to the experts.

Thanks, Toasty. I told Kelli I would fix it for her tomorrow, and was hoping no harm would be done by driving it. Advance auto has the grooved pulley for $16.50 and a new */c belt for $24.50 both made by Dayco. Are these known to be okay replacement parts? Or should we go with a different brand?

I've used the Dayco on my car without any issues. Spent more money on a Goodyear pulley, that I had to replace after a couple of months. I just put a Dayco on my daughter'* Buick when the tensioner pulley did exactly the same thing. That was only a coupel fo weeks ago, though.

SERIES 1 CANNOT RUN WITHOUT THE SC BELT because the WP is also driven by it.
S2 can, as stated. Just had to get that in there so no assumptions are made.
NAPA sells the metal idler pulleys. Some of the P/N'* are listed in Techinfo. At least the 3.25" and 3.5" are. If you take those numbers, they'll know what you need for the 3".

Being the grooved (probably) front pulley, you will again end up with plastic. I replaced mine and got a lemon. However would replace with the Dayco/Advance parts and belt without a second thought.
BTW.. Running a Dayco belt since I bought the car. Series 2 have enough belt wrap that belt composition is typically not an issue. At least not on a 3.2" pulley
