As we all know, unless the only thing turbo related to your car is a emblem you might put on.Turbos are powerful and expensive to hook up to our cars. But I saw a system that intense-racing is developing that seems useful. instead of all the expensive headers and flanges and such why not hook it up as the muffler? slower exhaust but keeps it cooler and less engine clutter. Does anyone see a problem in this other than length of piping and custom piping needed? I want this to be my summer project.
It'* called a tailpipe turbo. They are exceptionally inefficient but functional. Don't forget that you have to run oil feed and return lines. Oil return will need to be pumped because it is such a long trip so add an oil pump to the equation. There is a local Charger rolling around with twin tailpipe turbos. He runs 4psi with two turbos.
Darn I was hoping to have a <$1k somewhat efficient turbo setup, I thought i would put it before the cat and try and Frankenstein up some sort of hookup or in place of the muffler the same way and just have really long piping. I just want to do something different than a topswap.
they did a tailpipe turbo on a F150 Lightning on TRUCKS... they r pretty neat. I would think that turbo lag would be an issue...
They installed a tailpipe turbo on DD F150 Lightning and they said u can run quite a bit of boost, but i cannot find that episode to save my life.
Jon how close is the 3500 to the 3800? would i be able to use the exhaust with some modification? If I could find something that uncommon that is. Same with the turbo, my engine isnt much bigger than your so it should be good without starving the engine of air at high or low speeds?
