Default New Guy needs help

does anybody know why my boost gauge dosent work?I had the motor pulled and replaced recently and when i got it back my boost gauge didnt work and neither me or the mechanic can figure out why-its a 1993 SSEI,i bought it at auction for only 500$ with 84,000 miles but it needed a lower motor-the car looks brand new so i figured that a motor was a good investment,i still have about 1000 miles left on the "break in".any ideas maybe a fuse? thanks-by the way-this is one great site!!!!! thanks Jon

First thing to look for would be a disconnected vacuum line somewhere on the top of the engine, and going through the firewall. I haven't dug through that system yet, so I'm not sure at what point it converts that boost to an electrical signal for the gauge.

If I get the time and the good weather, I can pull some lines and figure it out, unless someone jumps in here and answers before then.

Yea I did good on the purchase when i found out i needed a motor-Ive also done a cold air intake-but have yet been able to "tickle the acclerator"due to the break in of the motor"no over 55 mph and no racing for 1500 miles"the wheels are pretty "ghetto"more so want to be smokey and the bandit.the car is great!!!!!i cant complane it even has the air hose-i took off the "cheesey"sc cover.
I might recieve hate mail on this one but i also own 2 impala SS clones(one pending sale-one wifes car)and believe me the one thats my wifes car is a real a** kicker!!,it used to be mine-and when i bought the Bonne ,my thoughts were to take the seats and run(BOO-Hiss)but it really came down to plus and minus-that and i really like the seats!!!!(I have a bad back -enuf said)and alll i want is to get the performance out of this newly re-born monster.
I also had to replace the radiator with oil cooler(i think you know why)my question is -I live in Tucson AZ-it gets really hot! and i see that you suggest an extra tranny cooler?but what about a innercooler for the supercharger?Do they make one?
In short this is me -hate me if i have a LT1 also but i did keep the SC and im trying to do it justice.
Thanks Jon

Series 1 intercooler designs are in the works. There are none commercially available yet, but there will be.

Ive been playing with a "temp"solution for a intercooler.Have you ever seen the BEER coozies that are made of BLUE ICE, I was thinking of keeping them on ice just before race(cuting them and putting velcrow on the ends for easy instal)what do you think? Jon

Check to make sure that your boost/MAP sensor isn't disconnected. It'* the flat black rectangle right behind the supercharger.

on which side should i look?Ive been looking buut i feel like im looking at a Nuclear reactor
and im "Homer Simpson",not really but i dont have any experience with the 3800 SC-other than the 95 Rivera i had two years ago-but i didnt have it long enough to dicker with it.Is there a web site that we can get diagrams(mechanical-electrical-etc.)?
My other car is a Impala SS (96)its now my wifes car but due to my incompatent Doctor I now have an inoperable situation with my back, and she gets my car and i get the Bonne(im not complaining but she lets me know that her car is faster- )I cant wait until the "break in "is done i really want to smoke her!(but in current configuration i doubt it). Thanks Jon from Tucson

Without looking at my engine, the picture shows it right behind where the PCV valve is. Try taking off the engine cover. It'* on the rear side (firewall side) of the supercharger.

If you still can't find it, I'll go look at my engine.

Center and above the rear fuel rail. Between the SC and the firewall. As you're facing the ......hang on a sec.....

Here:

This was the teardown on my SC rebuild last month. See the ribs (cooling fins) on the SC? Look at the one to the far right. Follow it away from the camera, towards the windshield. It goes up to a little black square with two screws. That'* the PCV valve cover. Right behind that, you see the horizontal black triangle? That'* your guy. It'* pretty much under the "3" of the "3800 on your engine cover.
