Question How bad does reliability suffer with a Supercharger?

I really want a SSEI but im a little worried about buying a used supercharged Bonneville just because im not sure how much the supercharger effects the reliability.

I quess what i am asking is.... is it smart to purchase a ssei if u dont have a budget to put money into the car. i know they are great cars but is it practical as a daily driver if i dont have money to constantly put into it?

I know u can drive a NA 3800 for 300,000miles. but does the same apply for a SC 3800?

The engine will be fine. I'm at 110k and no engine problems, and I'm far from stock.

Im at 158K and I have put over 15K VERY HARD miles on it myself, Its all in the way you maintain the motor, if you never open the hood any motor will have problems.

i agree. Regular maintenance is a must! but the miles u guys have on ur cars isnt much. how about a 1993 SSEI with 220,000 miles? is the supercharger the first thing to have problems at high miles or is it internal parts due to boost pressures? i want one bout if i sot a SSEI it would be an older one with higher miles, wise buy? do they have tranny issues because of higher HP and TQ numbers? ill sell my SE and buy a SSEI if i can drive it daily, and put alot of miles on it without blowing gaskets, seizing bearings, having tranny issues, ect.i understand things wear out, like belts, starters, alternators, brakes, ect. but i dont want something big to go wrong cause then ill have a 3000 pound lawn ordiment cause i dont have money for big repairs

the trans is heavy duty in the blown cars. it has to be without it you'll kill the regular trans.we have seen members with over 300k on their bonnies supercharged or not

It'* going to come down to how that engine was treated. Well mantained and it will last. Neglected, and you rgoing to have problems no mater how well you take care of it.
