Default 1993 Nose Cone Removal/Alternator Bracket Problem

O.K. I am trying to remove the */C Nose Cone to replace the Coupler. However, I was never able to remove the Alternator Brace. I need someone to let me know where all the bolts are located. I found the one on the nose cone and the one that holds the heater hoses and the one back by a pump of some sort. Does that pump have to come off and if so, how do you remove it. All the instructions for the coupler repair sound so easy, I think that part will be easy once I find out how to remove the alternator Bracket. Do I need to pull the whole */C Instead? Any help is greatly appreciated. Tim Poole

1993 SSEi just bought it with the coupl er noise. timpoole@carolina.rr.com

Double-nut the alternator bracket stud to remove it. You can use any 10mm nut (I think it'* 10mm). Just jam the two nuts together using two wrenches, and then after they're jammed, remove the stud using a ratchet on the top nut.

That'* the only thing you need to remove to lift the SC (other than the fuel rail and misc SC bolts, and the TB bracket )

Since you have to pull the SC to do that, you need the SC outlet gasket, two yellow coolant o-rings for the lower intake, and the red goop (gasket maker) for the nosedrive. You also need oil.

I suggest you ALSO do the following:

Remove your TB and clean it thoroughly with an intake-safe cleaner (after removing the MAF sensor). Install a new TB gasket. Get an injector O-ring kit from the dealer and replace all of them.
