Default Supercharger

I've been noticing lately that when I accelerate from a stop I hear a "whine" type noise like when you mash on your pedal and the supercharger kicks in. I'm hearing this noise just from normal acceleration. Could that be a problem??

But I've never heard it whine before at normal granny acceleration (and no, I'm not a granny haha).

please excuse Ryan he is not familiar with the Boost.....

yes that is caused by the straight cut gears in the Supercharger

most of the people on here find ways to increase that Whine....its unique

Ok so I guess just don't worry about it then? I thought maybe there was something wrong with the supercharger since I usually only hear the whine when I get on it, not just from normal acceleration.

Did you happen to look at the Boost Guage when this happens? Is it reading as an excessive amount of boost during the light accelleration? If not then I would say not to worry, I was kinda put off by it too the first time I observed it, which happended to be when my radio was off.

It might be the bearings in the snout or the rotor gears in the SC. My GenV has the noise and drives me nuts.

Let'* request a move to the Forced Induction section where this will get better exposure with the supercharged addicts.

When you say whine Pearl, does it sound like the supercharger or something else? We've already established that you know your car well and you replaced your rack about 4-6K ago.

Sapphire- I have observed the boost gauge and it seems to be a bit high on normal accelleration, but nothing crazy. I would say on normal acceleration it goes to the 0 (zero).

Bill- I am 99.999999% sure that it is the supercharger whining. The sound is exactly the same "granny accellerating" as it is mashing down on it with the gauge at 5 PSI. I've checked the fluid, the level seems fine. I'm thinking about getting the SC oil changed anyway since the car now has 64k on it.
