alright then..just bought a 93 SSEi about a month ago never had a problem till this last week...weird noises here and there, but yesterday there was a grinding noise coming from front end on my to work. after work i started and there wasn't any noise but i went to leave and i wouldn't do over 30 so stopped at a gas station pop the hood and sure sh%t the pully for my sc is restiing on my tensionor can see the bearings are falling our of the cone. question is do i just replace the bearings and call it good or the whole thing?

At this point, I'd just replace the nosedrive entirely, but not the whole SC. The bearings may have damaged the nosedrive housing.

You'll have to pull the entire SC to replace it. Not a big job. You'll need a SC gasket, 2 yellow o-rings, and a bottle of SC oil.

It'* a good idea to replace the fuel injector o-rings at the same time since you'll have the fuel rail off anyway.

Another hour of work would enable you to change the LIM gaskets and replace the plastic coolant bypass connector with a metal one (above the water pump in the LIM).

well when i bought it the kid said there was a lifetime warrenty on it but he doesn't know what he did with purchase slip. ya i think that the nose unit is bad because there are metal shavings in the engine compartment. do you have a website or something that tells how to take apart everything and put it back together never had to do anything with a sc before. If i get screwed on the sc it'* going to run $700 to $800

I can tell you that you need some good mechanical background, a 3-jaw puller, some patience, and a good press. If you don't have ALL of them, get a rebuilt nosedrive from Canadian Supercharger.

The problem you have now is that the bearing seats in your nosedrive may be damaged, and the input shaft as well. You may be 'rebuilding a dead horse' at this point.

Rebuilt? Warranty? My bet is he got it from eBay. Try to get the sellers ID. I already have my suspicions, and it doesn't surprise me.

no he didn't get it off of ebay, he got it from a salvage yard here in town, and says he nows the guy that owns it. i was looking more closely an the nose peice and it is shot there are a few small chunks missing out of bottom of the bearing seat. as far as what i have for parts i'm a little short when i comes to the press part, could use one at work, but i don't know if it'* to big or not, about a 200ton four post press.

Rebuild is out of the question for you now. The nosedrive is damaged. Forget the press. Get a rebuilt nosedrive from www.canadiansupercharger.com

It may be worth pulling the nose drive before you order a replacement. Check the condition of the gears, if they were damaged you would be better replacing the whole blower.

Good point. The oil would be gone at least at the bearing ejection, if not sooner. Lack of oil may have caused the visible failure.

The nosedrive is clearly a loss at this point. No question. Non-rebuildable total loss. And the supercharger itself may be a victim. 2 of the 4 rotor bearings are lubricated by nosedrive oil.

And gears aren't happy with no lubrication.

well if the sc is under warrenty wouldn't it cover the whole thing including the nose cone? finding out tomorrow hopefully if i can still swing the warrenty, guy at napa nows the owner of the salvage yard and said they usually have a mechanic do the change out for free when they put life time warrentys on there stuff to ensure it'* put on properly...i wouldn't be supprised if there wasn't any oil in it considering the person i bought it from, should have check it when i bought it though

All you're going to get is another high-mileage used unit that needs a rebuild.
