Default polishing the outside of an SC

Was just thinking about thermal effeciancy and the paint on our SC'* and with all the talk about paint being bad for heat sink, wouldnt it be better to remove all the factory paint and make it pretty again by using a polishing wheel??

Just a random thought I thought id post

Nope, It'll reduce the surface area.

My understanding is that the paint is designed for thermal transfer.

The finnish on the outside does help disipate heat so the sc is more effecient, with that said there are lots of Gp'* with polished sc, if you want both good looks and performance add an intercooler?

I know. Heat transfer depends on surface area. Each dimple might only be 0.0001" sq., But how many dimples are there?

The paint on the outside of the supercharger is heat transfer. It transfers heat away from the aluminum by design. I'm not talking about the rotors.

Don't paint it, and don't remove the OEM paint. Unless you intercool it, then it might not make a difference.

yeah it was just a thought....but that drab grey color is soooo UGG......what made me think of this was how ugly and corroded everything is under the hood of my Regal...I was thinking the only way to clean it would be to polish it, but it may come off w/o taking any paint off......and I may intercool someday if I ever get BonEvil running again

here is a pic of my series 2 i am replacing the series1 with.i have polished it out alittle better since pic was taken and polished everything else except the snout. the heat differance on the m90 between natural finish and polished is very very little, but i would hate to try to remove all the paint on a m62 and polish it out not sure of differance it would make on itas far as heati know it would some but some people are willing to sacrafice some performance for beauty, lol
