M62 supercharger questions

M62 supercharger questions
I found a rebuilt supercharger I couldn't pass up, from what i've been reading i don't think it was original equipment to the car i got it from, it seems to be a newer generation, and I'm looking for clarification from someone that actually knows.
Donor car: 1994 Bonneville SSEI
I believe this car came with a first or second generation M62 from my previous readings, and that this supercharger is a third generation M62 because the ribs don't go all the way around, or am I off?
Also I found that there were coolant passages that go through the supercharger, Is this necessary for cooling, or perhaps for warm up? In my application it will be a pain to try to route cooling lines through to this location, can I run it without them without ill effect?
I also noticed on the side of the inlet of the supercharger towards the front of the car as it sits on the engine there is a flex pipe coming down to another section of the engine, does anybody know what this was for? All I have is my own guesses (probably exhaust heated air for cold start, or possibly a different coolant section)
I have little information on these engines/superchargers, and I know it so please don't flame me.

Don't know a lot about the series1 superchargers, so can't help you there. But can say you do not need coolant, I closed mine off. The tube you are talking about is likely the EGR valve.

You are correct that it is a Gen 3 and that the Gen 3 came on the 94 SSEi. 92-93 used the previous generation, 94-95 used the Gen 3 M62.
On the coolant ports, as Dan indicated, they originally flowed a small amount of coolant to the throttle body. Hundreds of people have blocked them w/o issue. I usually suggest when people take the charger off the lower intake that they block them.
That corregated tube, again...Dan'* got you covered, it was from the EGR and if you won't be running a Series 1 3.8L, I'd suggest blocking that as well.

I would like to make sure I am catching this right and not just assuming I did. So the Gen III SC is to refer to the generation of the supercharger itself, and not the the Series of the Engine setup entirely? I know a friend of mine is a bit of a GM v6 nut and he'* always talking about Series I, II, and III.

Ok..just remember you asked.
The Eaton superchargers first appeared (TMK) in 92 on the 3.8L V6, a variation of the Eaton charger has been used up through 08 on the GTP.
Here'* the basic breakdown in regards to Bonnevilles though.
92-93 Series 1 L67, M62 Gen II
94-95 Series 1 L67, M62 Gen III
96-03 Series II L67, M90 Gen III
Series i and II designates GM'* motor at the time since they kept the same motor code of L67 for the supercharged motor, even though there was a large change in that motor as of 96.
The L32 or Series III motor didn't appear in a Bonneville, it was only found in the Grand Prix starting in 04. This motor had the updated supercharger known as the M90 Gen V.
Supercharger info... the M62 and M90 denotes the amount of air in cuibic inches per revolution that the blower moves. The M62 pushes 62ci of air per rev and the M90 pushes 90ci per rev. As the generation of charger increased, so did efficiency which led to most of the GM change in power from the L67 wearing an M90 Gen III at 240hp to the L32 wearing an M90 Gen V at 260hp.
I could never put my hand on the Gen 3 M90 after a spirited drive, yet the Gen V is not a problem.
