So is it safe for me to go 2.2 on my 93. Even with over 100k miles?

You won't gain all you can unless you do a full intake AND CAI or heatshield along with it. 2.2" is the smallest you should go with these recommendations. If you don't plan on an intake/cai/heatshield, you may want to do a 2.3 or 2.4" pulley.

When you say intake you mean a complete CAI system right? Or is there something else I could do to help? I do plan to do that and get the complete setup. So should I get the intake system first and then the pulley?

You want a straight pipe and a heatshield. It can be custom. Anything to make the airflow more laminar and draw cold air, not engine bay heat. Consider my heatshield to be the bare minimum you should shoot for (I also have a ram-air setup forcefeeding my box to help, but this isn't absolutely necessary if you do a good CAI or effective shielding).

Do the intake first, then the pulley. Without the intake, you won't breathe well enough, and you may get too much KR unless it'* drawing cold air.

Where can you go to get these mods done? I was thinking about a custom pipe with cone filter/shield to replace OEM air box.

Well, I have bought a straight pipe and cone filter for my intake. Anyone know a thread about how to make a heat shield for it?

Hi all. 1st post - Thanks for all the info. I have a rebuilt blower on the way for my 1993 Bonnie SSE */C (only 65k miles) from Americancharger, but he said it'* a 2.7 pulley size. Is that the original stock size? Thought I saw somewhere that it was a 2.55. Hope if it is a 2.7 it'* ok to install.

Also, anybody know what is the original size of the tension (idler?) pulley to the left of the */C. Sorry, don't know the number as I can't find the complete diagram for the series 1 engine.

wow this is an old thread but it does fit the "pulley size" topic.... a 93ssei i believe usually has a 2.55 pulley stock, the 94 ssei like mine has a 2.85 on it... so the charger prolly came off a 94/95 model if i had to guess... if so leave the pulley like it is, the later years ported the sc'* to allow more air at less speeds to reduce heat buildup, you can drop to a 2.55 but youll be cranking some serious boost that way... itd be recommended to have a complete exhaust and intake setup for that small of a pulley, assuming its a 94/95 ported SC.

Thanks, Okie! I called the guy back, & now it sounds like it is the 2.55 they're sending. Basically said whatever the stock */C is for the 92/93 Bonneville is what I'll get.

I'll go w/ that, as a GM dealer will be putting it on, & I don't want anymore problems. They already misdiagnosed all the noise as being the tensioner/idler pulley (whatever the next one is to the left of the */C pulley, facing it from the side), when it was the charger all along. Talk about throwing new parts at a problem, these guys take the cake.
