2000 bonneville ssei supercharger belt broke
Hello, I am curious if the supercharger belt has to be on the car for it to run? The belt apparently broke last night on my trip home and when I got home, I turned the car off and tried to immediately start it again, but it wouldn't crank. It seemed like the battery didn't have enough juice. Any help would be appreciated.

It doesn't absolutely have to be on, some guys with Regals take them off to get better gas milage just because you don't have as much power to unleash with your foot
I'm not sure why it wouldn't crank though

If the belt wrapped around behind the harmonic balancer it could have hurt the crank sensor, possibly bent the fins on the HB and become bound from the belt being stuck back there. I'd look for shreds of belt sticking out from behind the HB.

I had this happen as i was going down the road. Tore a good amount of equipment out when it went (i was at about 70mph when it happened) My guess would be the belt did more damage than you realize. The suggestion above with the Crank sensor is a good one thats one of the problems i ran into

I hate to admit it but I had the SC belt break when one of the pulleys froze. It was freezing out and I put it off until the weekend and then had a family emergency. I forgot all about it then kept putting it off. I drove it around for over a month. Got a tiny bit better mileage but it drove like a dog.
