Default If I may ask 2 */C related questions?

On a 95 SSEi

1. Do you need 1 or 2 bottles of */C oil when doing a refil?
2. When I had the */C apart I had a moment laps of intelligence and cleaned the rotors with Laquer Thinner. I know I know......never do that. My question is: I know I probably removed the coating off of the rotors so, have I caused any long turn damage, a loose of possible boost, both, or other?

Thanks.

While you may have cleaned the epoxy off the rotors.. It'* not the end of the world and you need to keep moving forward on the car.

See my rotor cleaning post here.

I put those back in and drove about 3,000miles or so.. fuel mileage was fine.. power was lacking a little if you stomped the pedal from a stop. Otherwise..all seemed normal with slightly lower boost readings at wot.

Buy two, use one, the other is your spare. M62'* use one, M90'* use two.

Take a pic of your rotors. Are they shiny silver now, or still a dull gray?

Thanks Wren, I already have it all back together and had it running so pictures are going to be very difficult at this stage. Originally they had a dark brown, black, burnt type color, now they're a dull grey. I took it for a test drive around the block and noticed that it has more pickup than the 90 SSE but then we're talklng a difference of about 49 bhp. In general though, the pick up isn't something I would brag about sort of speak and the boost gauge doesn't really get up there much.
I believe stock HP on the 95 SSEi is around 225 bhp?

PS. not mods done other than a very slight port and polish of the */C.

It doesn't sound like they're shiny aluminum, but the coating could have been weakened, and come off later with use.

You should be able to hit about 7-8psi with the stock pulley. Is it less boost now than before you cleaned it? Or the same? What are you getting before/after?

Wren, the stock gauge goes up to "70" is that 7 psi of boost, is so I has never reached that ever.

When I purchased the car, it was in need of repairs and since those repairs it has never been plated, so I don't have any before/after mesurements. I would say that the boost is about the same as when I took it for a test drive, but then it was in need of a coupler at the time. When I take the car around the block it probably gets up to around 40 to maybe 50 on the boost gauge.

Forgot you were one of them.

Your gauge is in KPA, not PSI. As I recall, 40-50 is about normal stock, so your rotor coating may be intact.

A worn coupler has no effect on boost whatsoever unless it'* completely broken.
