If so,

It came with the car, and when I had it off, it all seemed good other than all the gunk inside.

PCV itself was fine, pcv cover is factory black. Not sure on the oil fill screw, I think it was painted if I remember.

Based on what we've experienced and investigated (based on countless experiences not on this forum alone, but others as well), no other SC rebuilder has ever used Silver paint. Floz no longer does as their 'signature' was making it difficult to sell superchargers after we blew the whistle on them.

I can say based on what we know at this point, that IF your supercharger is painted silver, it is almost certainly a FLOZ supercharger and may suffer from any of the symptoms and problems others have. There have been cases of shoddy workmanship, or superchargers that weren't even rebuilt if they came from the donor in a condition that FLOZ could re-sell without major work. In other words, some bearings were not replaced on some units.

Not ALL Floz superchargers are silver. Those being sold by Mark and Randy Peters on eBay (under two different seller ID'*) are no longer silver.

We have been after this for quite some time, and have had limited success in shutting him down. At one point he was using ZZP couplers and Pulley Boys pulleys. Both vendors cut off his supply when they learned of his poor reputation, and was naming them as his suppliers.

He has very poor ethics and business qualities. He'll gladly ship you a SC with a smaller pulley, but will not honor the warranty after that. Interesting trick that he failed to communicate to the customer in many cases.

He joined this Forum under 2 different aliases acting as a satisfied customer of Floz. That'* a NASTY dirty trick. These guys are as low as capitalism will allow them to go. They have no regard for the customer or for quality of product.

"Your supercharger was rebuilt by the lowest bidder".

*sigh*

Why can't I get ahead on this beast??? Well, the good news is that it isn't directly causing any problems at the moment, i.e. it isn't high on my priority list to properly rebuild this thing yet. I am *nearly* done with my crankshaft and bearing woes, moving onto the transmission afterwards. Maybe in the meantime I can find myself a decent core to rebuild, then rebuild the Floz unit. When that time comes, I'll have the entire case and nose media blasted then powdercoated (already have a shop I go to in this area that will get me a good deal).

Or maybe I can just toss it in the river behind my apartment and use it as a crabtrap.

Bill, I read all the posts in regards to Floz, and did read the post where he popped up as a new member touting his new Floz */c and how he beat some Mustang with it. Seeing that alone makes me think very low of him and the business he represents. When I get this thing apart, I promise to snap pics of the inside just to see how his work holds up. Though I am sure many of you know that answer already!

Do NOT paint or powdercoat it. It will cause heat retention. Play around with the FLOZ unit and find a product that will remove the silver paint, leaving the OEM tan paint intact.

Ok I am confused....you say paint is bad because of heat retention, but at the same time keep the GM OEM paint....is this paint some sort of special formulation that cannot be had anywhere else? Also, wouldn't there have to be some sort of coating on the housing to keep oxidation from happening? I am utterly and completely dumb in this subject...this is the first */c car I have owned (had turbos prior to this). I am from the schooling that you WANT to keep heat inside the engine and not radiate it out ( in turbocharged apps I can see this is the case, now that I think about it keeping heat inside a */c is bad news) Ok, rephrased question....ideally, should a supercharger housing be devoid of any sort of coating on it?

Keep the OEM EATON (not GM) coating. GM doesn't do that, they come to them that way. The Eaton/Magnusson coatings allow heat to dissipate and prevent oxidation.

Let'* review the picture before posting please.

Sandrock, did you take any pics of the inside of the SC when you had it apart. Those would be the biggest help. Although being a 93 you wouldn't have coated rotors therefore the largest issue shouldn't be a problem.
