Default supercharger problem

i have a 93' ssei and i was wondering if that car can run without the supercharger, because i think that my supercharger is going out and the car is not running good at all. When i ma at about 35 and try to go faster the car wont go any faster and sounds weird. Thanks

the supercharger never goes out. there are a few things, like the coupler or the bearings and both of thoes are a simple fix

So what exactly does the SC do, and how sure are you that the SC is the problem? SC'* don't usually 'go out'.

Is there oil in the nosedrive? Does it make noise only at idle? When you take the belt off and turn it by hand, what do you see and feel? If you start the car with this belt off, does the sound go away (don't run too long like this).

Your water pump is driven by the same belt as the SC.

Moving to Forced Induction.

Check your coil packs...I had a similar issue a few months back. The car can not run with out the super charger check out this pic of the underside of mine and your */C. The way the */C is set up there is no way the motor can get the sufficient airflow that it needs. When you get on it does it feel like the car completely stalled except the motor is still running but the more fuel you give it the slower the RPM'* get?

Not true. Series 2 can run without the SC, with decreased performance. Because their water pump is on another belt.

If it weren't for the water pump issue, we too, could run without the SC.

I was going with the assumption that the water pump would still be driven.

Cool. Just making sure everyone was on the same page. Go to an electric water pump, and run without the SC all you want, but for the cost of repairs (cheap) fix the sc if it'* actually the problem.

I dont want ot have to take this to GM to get it fixed because i just spent all my money on it

Doesn't sound like a SC problem to me. Try this:

And come back to us with the codes you get.

First off, if you're gonna do any type of work your self on this car......BUY A CHILTON'* MANUAL!!!! It will be your best friend through thick and thin. Second off, put your year and trim level and any modifications you have done to your car in your siguiture area of your profile. Third, once you get done with step one, remove the Throttle body and get some good brake cleaner and scurb the hell out of it....They get really dirty. Also clean off the contacts of the the MAF (Mass Airflow Sensor) with a cue tip and rubbing alcohol. The MAF is on the top of the throttle body almost, held in by 3 screws.....When you're cleanning the two very thin wires that will probably be black, DO NOT SCRUB TOO HARD OR YOU WILL WRECK THE MAF!!!!!!! And then you're eff'd and have to buy a new one. Also try and replace your spark plugs and spark plug wires......30 min insurance and the MAF and Throttle body will take ya a lil bit to do.....

Try this and see where you get.
