Default No boost on the Positive side, --- Help!

Hi all,
I just bought a 2003 SSEi with 86,000 miles on it. I notice that no matter how hard I step into it, ..... the boost guage will only go over to the 0 and maybe +1. Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance, ---- Gary

Hi Jake,

I just got it back from the Dealer today and it still does not boost past ZERO!!!!!! They replaced a part called an " ACTUATOR ". My bill was $239.00. Is the actuator the same thing as the boost control sylenoid??? I know I sound dumb, but I really am ignorant
(or unlearned ) reguarding the Superchargers..

Thanks in advance Jake,

Gary

its ok Hawkman, we all started somewhere,

i dont think its the same thing(may be), the solenoid is just a vaccuum, if i call it the right way, there a little hose that plug in and out, thats it, mine was broken and had very little boost,i was just running 16.4 on quarter mile.

believe me, youll know when the boost will come back

just return to dealer and tell them you just pay for a bad diagnostic and want it repaired asap.

mine cost only 200$ can. installed by dealer.

im sure willren can help you better than me.

Your problem doesn't sound like a bad acutator at all to me. It'* gotta be the boost control solenoid (little black box next to the black cylinder (actuator)on the front side of supercharger). PM me if you'd like me to take a look at it, I bet I can find the problem in a few minutes, without charging $65 dollars an hour.

Oh, and get our money back for the actuator. Those rarely go bad. What dealership did you go to?

Take it back and demand your old part. Have them GIVE you a boost control SOLONOID. It'* a $20 part at the most.

They simply changed the wrong part because the didn't properly troubleshoot the problem. Had they followed the Factory Service Manual procedure, they couldn't have possibly failed to fix it.

Giardina'* in Galesburg is where I bought the car and that is who has worked on it. They checked it out last Thursday and said the computer when hooked up to it, showed the actuator not functioning and needed to be replaced. When I went to pick it up today, they said the car was finished and working fine. But, when I drove off and punched it, the needle would still only go over to ZERO. So, .......... I drove right back and said it was not showing a positive boost. They said they would have to check it out another time, as the problem was indeed 2-fold, because the system show the actuatornbot functioning. I insisted they call a tech at GM that understood Superchargers, that could help them correctly diagnose the problem. So, they did, but it was past hours East Coast Time. So, ... they will get back with me tomorrow. So, ........ we will see! You can call me if you wish sometime tomorrow. My cell is #309-221-9995.

Best regards, ---------- Gary Hawk

There are no electronic controls on the actuator, so their computer can't tell what it'* doing. There is, however, on the boost control solenoid.

Here is a test you can do real easy. Find the actuator, it'* the black cylinder on the front of the supercharger. It will have two vacuum lines running to it, one to the top, and one to the bottom. The one on the bottom goes to the boost control solenoid. Pull the bottom one off. It won't hurt anything for a little while. If that gives you your boost back, it is most definatly the solenoid.

Giardina'* has been pretty helpful to me in the past, just got my wife an unused spare tire from the junkyard for 25 bucks, virtually free of charge on their part, cause it took two days for them to get a new tire for her GA. Her original spare went flat the day after the normal tire. That was on Wednesday.
