Default 3.4 Inch Pulley

I'm thinking of getting the 3.4 inch pulley for my 1997 SSEi. It has already has the Intense Standard PCM. Which pulley'* the best? Pulley Boys? Can I replace just the pulley? What about the hub, belt, etc? Please let me know which parts need to be replaced?

pulley brand choice is purely opinion.. id go for an INTENSE or ZZP

you can either get a press on, or a MPS (modular pulley system) to be able to change your pulley size easily

with a 3.4 you should run a 715 belt, or get a larger idler pulley

keep in mind you need to get a pulley remover, either buy or rent or borrow from someone

here is the intense MPS
INTENSE™ Modular Pulley System
Code:IMH-090
Price: $99.99

here is the zzp MPS
ZZP Modular Pulley System - $99.99

here is the pulleyboys MPS
Pulley Boys Qwikchange Set - $159.99

then there is the press on for the amature modder

GM 3.8L V6 Supercharged Vehicles ~ $69.95

I don't plan on changing the pulley toa smaller size. So all I need is the press on 3.4 inch pulley and the 715 belt or larger idler pulley? My mechanic said he can change the pulley. So I assume he'* got the tool.

99.9% sure he does NOT have the right puller... he probably has a 3 jaw puller, which will damage the original..do not use it.. you also need the special pulley to get the pulley on straight... look around for a puller, they are easy to come by...

3.4 press on
pulley puller
715 or larger idler

INTENSE™ Supercharger Pulley Puller and Installation Tool
Code:IPT-100
Price: $79.99

ZZP Supercharger Pulley Puller - $99.99

I second/third and fourth the need for the correct puller. We have seen supercharger snouts ruined by the wrong pullers.

Depending on where you are located, there may be a member with a puller near you. This would also save on mechanic fees .

For the 3.4 inch pulley I need to replace the 4060725 belt with 4050715? Is that correct?

Do NOT trust your mechanic on this one, even if he'* adamant that he can do it.

Show him pics of these pullers. If he doesn't have one, make other arrangements.

Yes, changing to a 3.5 or 3.4 pulley a 715 belt or an oversized tensioner should do the trick nicely.

No, you need a 4060715 belt.

And I can't tell you how many times I've heard, I'm just doing a pulley and plugs and thats all only to have them modding further and changing pulleys again.

Yes. I started out with a 3.4 press on.
Then installed an MPS and now have all 6 sizes from 2.9 to 3.4.
