Do I have to take the entire supercharger off or is there a way to just take the snout? If so, how? It sure looks like removal is the only way...please someone tell me I'm wrong.

it can be done both ways...heres my two views

everyone on the site will tell you taking the whole thing off is faster

my dad (mechanic) finds taking off the snout is easier and faster, did the coupler change in an hour

so whats wrong with yours that you have to take it off?

Need to switch out the coupler (have a zzperformance one). Please tell me how to avoid taking the whole thing off. I would appreciate it.

Alright, ur dad must be a miracle worker or something. I began just taking the snout off and it was MUCH more work than just taking the whole thing off. I would defnitely go with taking off the whole supercharger. Then you can clean ur TB and put in new clean gaskets as well. Plus, if your bearings are worn, you can have a machine shop do those as well. That is what I did atleast. Here is a site with pictures and a pretty good breakdown.

Don't even think about attempting it with a nosedrive removal only. This is a prime opportunity to thoroughly clean the TB as well, not to mention the fuel injectors. It takes less time to pull the whole thing, and you can do some other maintenance while you're in there.

I'd have to agree. Sure, seasoned mechanics may be able to efficiently to a nose-only removal.

However, most home mechanics will want to remove the whole thing. It will be easier for you.

Well I guess this is all for nothing now because about 25 minutes after posting I gave up and pulled the supercharger off. Man..my coupler was SHOT...and the oil was even worse. I have only owned the car say, 800 miles so this is not due to my negligence so dont get me wrong (I knew what I was getting into). My injectors have a lot of oil on them (replacing the valve covers and those O rings too) but I did not remove the throttle body itself. That website from zzperformance with the M90 snout removal made the coupler repair sound really easy and I got kind of overwhelmed when I found out I had to take off the whole supercharger. I had never done that before. Oh well, all fixed now. Thanks guys.
