Diesel turbos off a tractor???
#11
I have to agree with sticking to the gasoline engine turbo'*. I don't know a whole lot about anything, but I did pull a diesel turbo off of an old White 6500(combine). After playing around with it I've concluded there is no way my 4.6L can turn it. The info I got on diesels is that they run much higher compression ratio'*... 17:1 ish. The thing that falls into play with that is exhaust gas speeds. Sure, you can turn a gas burner a lot higher than a diesel... but I don't think it'd be enough to turn the turbo. Those diesel trucks run double digit boost at 2000 rpm. Figure on only turning 6k and that you probably can't generate the gas to turn it still.... more displacement would probably help, but again, I could just be blowing smoke..
