Default Pressing the nose shaft to the correct position

I was once informed by Magnuson that you have to be careful to press the supercharger nose shaft to the correct position when pressing it back into the nose because if you press it in too far, it'll destroy the oil seal, and if it'* not in far enough, it'll cause other internal damage. This suggests that the shaft can be pressed-in to the nose at different positions, and this sounds exactly like what caused the oil seal destruction in the nose of one of my superchargers, and ironically, this unit was completely rebuilt by Magnuson.

Does anyone have information on this? I don't recall seeing this detail in any other posts related to snout rebuilding, and I can tell you that I own 4 M62 superchargers, and the gap between the end of the snout and the inside edge of the nose pulley is slightly different on all of them.
