Default A.N.*.I. vs non A.N.*.I groove pattern

I was wondering if anyone has tired and noticed a difference between the A.N.*.I. vs non A.N.*.I groove pattern? I currently have the ZZP modular pulley (non A.N.*.I. design) and I always have belt slipage at the top of the rpm range in 1st. I have not noticed any major slipage anywhere else. But has anyone reduced belt slipage going from the ZZP groove design to the A.N.*.I groove pattern on say a Intense Pulley?

Thanks for any replies
Ed

What belt are you using? Brand? Size?

More then just trying to solve the problem with my belt sliping. I'm trying to figure out if anyone one has noticed a difference with belt slipage between pulleys with the A.N.*.I. groove pattern and those without it.

But to answer your questions... Gator back, Goodyear, and the belt says #4060725

Thats your problem - Gaterback belts are the worst for belt slip! Go to Napa and get a Gates belt. . . . .ZZP'* pulleys are a perfect match for them. Also double check your Part Numbers to make sure you are using the right size belt. Just IM Zooomer and tell him your setup and he will give you the right lenght belt.

I'm not sure about the diff. in belt slip between A.N.*.I. and non since I'm Series 1. But I wish mine 2" pulley was non-A.N.*.I. it would help out stop belt sliping.

McGrath you are using the wrong belt, that is why your getting slip....you need a 715 belt not a 725, with a 3.4 pulley

ZZP'* pulley design works perfectly with any belt if it'* the correct length. Still, the Gates Mico-V belts perform better than the Gatorbacks.

Great! Thanks for the info, I will surely be buying the new belt everyone has just mentioned. The funny thing is I thought the GatorBack belt was good for our application. Even my old belt that was all cracked and brittle didn't slip like the Gator does. I think I'm going to let my car eat up this belt for alittle bit of time since I have not even put 1k on it yet. But the slipage might really start pissing me off and then I'll change it right away.

You can see some of the rubber caked on the pulley

I have no problems with my Gatorbacks, and they're turning one of my superchargers at over 18000 rpm'* at redline.

Some of the problem may be due to the finish on the pulley itself. How it was prepped, how/where it was anodized, etc. My advice is to let it break in, and then throroghly clean the pulley and give it another go.

Keep in mind I have less belt wrap than you, and have no belt slip. Are you running an oversized idler pulley?

I have a oversized ilder pulley (3.5") and I've had the SC pulley and all for a few months now. Just my belt is new within the last 6 weeks and I wasn't sure if the belt had just start sliping or I just noticed it. But I'm pretty sure it just started with the new belt when the old belt that was in pretty sad shape didn't slip.
