01 contemplating supercharging
what all do i have to do to super charge my 3800 other than buy the sc
i know ill prob need a different computer and wire harness
but will i need injectors fuel pressure regulator possibly fuel pump able to pump more fuel
and is there any diff engine internal component wise from a sc 3800 and a non sc 3800 like strength wise?
the last thing i want to do is spend all that $ and all that labor
only to toast my engine the first time i get down on it

Here is a good article on upgrading and the things you need. I'm also in the planning stages myself.

Harmonic balancer, ICM bracket, tensioner, #9 pulley and bracket, belt, L67 heads, LIM, supercharger, injectors, fuel rails, throttle body, wiring harness, and a lot of tuning.

Dan, has anyone around here come up with a good tool to use for tuning? Anything recommended?
He would need to have a tuner on the spot for programming correct? He can't send his PCM out and be programmed?
Sorry, just helping him and myself out.

Skip the wiring harness. ZZP and Intense both stock a $20 kit to add the BCS connector and move the map sensor.
You'll need.
L67 Heads
L67 Valve covers
L67 SC belt tensioner/icm bracket
L67 Harmonic Balancer
#9 Pulley and pulley mount
Belt for supercharger
L67 Map sensor and bracket
L67 LIM
L67 Throttle body
Power Log or headers
Optional: Highly recommended Intercooler.
Head gaskets
Valve cover gaskets
LIM gaskets
SC gasket
TB gasket
Coolant elbows
All the bolts.
Soon after you'll need a trans or want to upgrade your diff and output shaft to the HD ones. (this would give you 3.29 gearing)
Tuner: I recommend HP Tuners (no need for a different pcm)
The lower end of the L36 (NA) motor is not designed the same and the L67 (SC'd) motor. The L67 has hyperpucktectic pistons and lower compression than the L36. The higher compression creates more heat when boosting it. Therefore you must know how to tune well before you try to tune a top swapped L36. Lots of things to be considered from all aspects of tuning. The successful guys got their tune in order quickly. Otherwise you can smoke the motor pretty easy.
I was the labor on a top swap this summer. The guy had a tuner and stated he was good with it. Upfront I told him I had not ever tuned a top swap and wasn't looking to do so on his. If I mess up on trying something the first time..I'll do it to my car not someone elses. Therefore I told him he was fully responsible for the tune. In under two weeks he hadn't tuned it fully and the bearings went bad from too much timing. It was very very fast but without the tune..it was unreliable.

when you top swap you can't just throw a tune from a supercharged car in, a lot of timing needs to be taken out as well as changes in torque convertor lockup and a bunch of other little things
