Default M62 Bypass Valve problems

I've got a buddy who has custom installation of an M62 into a Hyundai 4 cylinder. His problem is the Bypass is leaking and won't hold the valve open, and he is overseas where he cannot get the bypass or any parts for the blower. Is there any way of repairing the bypass? Or I was thinking he could just eliminate the bypass all together on his application, or would that be a bad thing to do? Any input would be awesome.

He needs the bypass or he'll be running full boost all the time. That'll do a number on engine reliability and MPG.

If it'* leaking around the case, he could try sealing it with some RTV. If it'* leaking around the shaft at the bottom, he'll need a new one.
