I bought a used boost bypass valve recently (dont ask) and got a nice used one for $20 (new GM was $192) shipped from a guy who deals in GTP parts. Is there any reason it would be different from the one on my Bonneville?

to update, I went to install a used GS unit on my SSEi last weekend and they are slightly different. I will have to run a rubber line instead of the OEM hard plastic apparantlly.

The bypass actuator itself is identical. Each different type of car will have slightly different vacuum routing systems.

Even my 95 SLE/SC would seem to be identical to a 95 Riviera SC, right? Nope. Components are identical, vacuum routing differs.

All of the boost bypass valves on all L67'* should be the same, series II at least, it should not matter at all what car they came off of. The one on my turbo car is even identical to the L67 one. If the fittings are different all you would need to do is connect a rubber line to the end of the plastic line and into the boost bypass valve and it should work fine. Like Bill said, the routing on different models is going to be different since vacuum is used for many different things.

im not trying to split hairs fellas, but to me, the word "identical" means that you can take a part off one car and without any modification whatsoever bolt it onto your car. theres no doubt in my mind the one I bought will work exactly like my original one, but the mounting of the actuator onto its bracket is slightly different (rotated about 30? degrees), which keeps the original vac line from proper fitment. its not hard to remedy, and its only going to cost $0.25 for the hose, but when it comes down to it, they are not in fact identical.

Its the replacement part for what you are trying to replace. There are slight design changes all the time, but the part itself is indentical besides being turned a different way or whatever. It is still the same thing, just because it is mounted to the bracket slightly different doesn't really matter. It is identical as far as function, and thats all that matters.
