I picked a gallon of this up at Auto Value today to clean a few sets of SC rotors. The manager swore up and down it'* made by Castrol. They didn't have the spray bottles like I've seen pictured here.

On the back it says it contains:
Water (7732-18-5)
2-Butoxyethanol (111-76-2)
Nonyl Phenol Polyethoxylate (9016-45-9)
Sodium Xylene Sulfonate (1300-72-7)
Sodium Hydroxide (1310-73-2)

I bought the gallon and probably won't need all of it so if anyone coming to the MN meet in April (gonna update that thread tonight -finally) wants some I'll have some left no doubt, if it is in fact the same stuff otherwise I'm returning it and will have to find someone who carries the Castrol branded Super Clean.

Whether it'* Castrol or not, that is the chemical that does the most work when it comes to stripping off crud. Same thing that is in "Easy-Off" oven cleaner...which is what I was using before figuring out that Castrol Super-Clean was the same thing without the aerosol can. (sounds a little funky, but there'* nothing better at removing 60 years worth of cosmoline from a gun stock...along with your finger-prints )

Funny thing I just thought of.... I bought this and then I went and spent another $20 on other cleaners to stock up on for cleaning SC cases.

Also, how does one go about cleaning the SC rotors with this? Rag or spray bottle?
Follow up by wiping with a clean water dampened rag and then a clean dry rag?
Of course, I'll be avoiding letting it run in the rotor plate bearing area, as well as doing my best to avoid getting any on the rotor tips that go into the needle bearings.
The 92 is going to get new needle bearings and rebuild of the nose, but the Gen III M90'* both have excellent bearing and nose drives. One Gen III M90 set of rotors is half stripped and is going to be sent off to www.thehighspeedlab.com for coating with the same teflon coating as the GEN V has.

As soon as all three of the above SC'* are done and sold I will do the GEN V up and tear the low-mile GEN III off my car and get that all taken care of also.

Still undecided if I want to get a new dremel to smooth the inlets and chamfer the outlets... probably will because the extra $60 dremel and bits and time involved may net me another $100 each on ebay.

Don't clean the rotors, no need to.

Yeah, DO NOT clean the rotors. In fact, try to avoid getting that on the rotors if you can. I'm not sure if it would actually harm the coating, but it sure wouldn't benefit it. I would just leave the rotors and rotor plate alone, other than cleaning off the RTV and the outside of the case.

Don't leave it on the case unattended. It'll corrode untreated aluminum. Clean and rins thoroughly with a soft brush.

Never clean the rotors unless you need to inspect the coating.

I saw the same stuff in Walmart, $7. didn't get it, didn't know if it was the same. maybe I'll get one and try it now.

I cleaned the SC case with it, but I immediately followed with a water soaked rag as I didn't want a film left on it at painting time.
The rotors got a light wipe-down, but rotors were mostly clean to begin with. They were absolutely mint after a 2 minute wiping of all the rotor blades. I also diluted the rags with water 1:1 with superclean to prevent full power super clean use on the rotors.

I just didn't trust it enough to begin with for full power use on the rotors.
