As told by Boseman350:
I went to the pontiac garage today and read their service manual for 10 minutes. I found that there is a resistor next to the horn on the driver'* side fenderwell. It is behind the black pcm tray and adjacent to the horn itself. It is white porcelien and has a electrical connector into it. If you yank the 2 prong wire, you now have no more DRLs.
So far it hasn't turned on any check engine lights. I haven't had the chance to test if it has any other side effects, but I doubt it does.
Good luck! If you have any more ?'* let me know.
end of Boseman350 procedure.

My 97 DRL'* are disabled by unplugging the resistor only. 5 minutes a couple scratches and you are all set. Pull pcm cover off and sneak back there.
