this ques is in regards to the adaptive lamp module, i was wonder how it accutall can tell if the bulb is burning or burnt out, does it use photo sencors in the light arrays, or is it in serise with the wiring going to the lamp assemblys and measures the current level, or is it just FM (not frequency modulation but Fing magic), ,

It measures the current drawn by each circuit.

asssssssssssssssssoooooooooooooooooo, thank you very much sir, so inorder to do this the ALM must be in series with the source of power for that particular light and the light it self, all of the current must pas through the ALM which as a predetermined amount ov current that must be present while the light is on or should be on, and if that current threshold does not exist it will throw a warning light on the lamp monitor in the insterment panel....?

Yup. Just what you said. If the bulb thingy is broken, the light thingy comes up on the dash thingy.

Yes. In the winter when I turn the HIDs on, it draws a lot of current at first to fire up the cold bulbs, but as the current dies off, the monitor thinks the bulb has burned out and lights the headlamp out indicator. This does not happen in the summer.

fuddy duddy , you actuall have High intenity discharge headlights for your bonne? how do you like them, do they really make a diffrence in forward vision, do you ever have other flashing their brights at you.............i havent changed the headliught bulbs since ive owned that car, they are still the yellowish light, facorty ones,

Hey will, would that mean that if you rebuilt your tails to use LED'* (al-la caddy) the module would get used to it and not throw a fit?

it would depand on how much curent the LED'* draw at any givin time, which most LEDs or LED arrays do not draw as much current as a filimet bulb, which is one of the advantages to the LED but not in the case of that darn adaptive light module, of its sooooo adaptive thene why cant it adapt to LEDs huhhhhh, grrrr,
to fool this system you could run a wire dirctly off lets say the switch, or slice into the wire going from the switch to th ALM, then take that wire directly to your new LED or HIDs,. then remove the bulbs and either solder the wires coming from the ALM or you could use the old plugs in the HID case, and then hide them in a project box or if your a shotty mechanic wrap some electrical tape around the bulb, do not do that, or you could use a dumby load instad of a bulb, use a resistor of the same resistance as a hot filiment bulb and the same watt disipation, then the ALM will think its the correct bulb,
