Was the car ever submerged in water?

You can try some electrical cleaner and jiggled the wires and connectors to clean the contacts off. If that doesn't work, then you probably need to pull everything apart and clean them individually, or as you suggested get a wire harness from a donor car and cut and splice.

I think I'd be checking the ground buses on the A and B pillars as well as pull the carpet up and check the connectors and buses on the floor pan.

I say clean up your corrosion mess and go from there. Also check for any grounds in that area and clean them as well.

What we don't know, but need to:

1. Year, model and trim level
2. What you are trying to accomplish (ie. window only problem, locks as well or even more?)

Please fill in the above and we can help you much better. While I'm waiting, this post is going to move to the electrical section to better help you get views.
