Anything that appears blue when driving is illegal, and puts out inferior light. Most of us run Silver Stars. Brighter white light, and legal.

I think he'* talking about Xenon lights. The "real" xenons are big bucks, and I'm not sure they will even work right in a fixture that wasn't designed for them. SilverStar headlamps are definitely the way to go.

Are people still having trouble with SilverStar foglamps? They were burning out way too quick a few months ago...but I haven't noticed many complaints posted lately.

There are a few Xenon kits out there that will work with factory lamps. They're basically plug and play. Fuddyduddy had one of these kits on his bonneville before he sold it. They usually run anywhere from $400-$700. But your best bet really is the silverstars if you don't want to spend all the money for real Xenon lights.

I had a HID kit on my Bonne too, looked cool as hell and sure lit everything up good. I took it out due to a failed capsule and didnt want to spend ~200$ to get a set of new ones. Keep in mind that your headlight housing werent designed for the kind of luminance that HID'* give off.
Silverstars have a special coating on them that increases luminance and whiter lighter. If you dont want a the coating on there try the XtraVisions(also made by Sylvania-Osram).

I've tried and tested side by side, I found no difference between the white glassed Sylvania in my housings, and hte Silver stars aside from Color Temperature. Silverstars will glare off of snow and rain more then a bulb with a yellow or pinkish tinge.

A blue Filter WILL remove light from the spectrum. Silverstars aren't exactly well known for long life since they're burned hotter to be just as bright thru the blue film. European Silverstars do not have this blue film and are much better. But like everything european that'* better, it'* not here...

if u compare the specs of the silverstars, cool blues, and xtra-visons, they all put out the same lumens just different color, i have heard that the cheap bulbs one bay are actually pretty good, but generally i dont tihnkt heya re technically street legal since the lows are 80 watts and the highs are 100

I disagree with that statement in so many ways. European quality does not always mean better.
XtraVisions by Sylvania = Euro Silverstars.
Another option would be Hella Optilux.
