Default sending unit broken?

I'm not sure if every bonneville is like this but my 95 does the thing where when you take off, your gas goes up and when you slow down, it drops. I dont know if this is supposed to happen or if it needs replaced.

I am pretty sure the float is facing the rear of the tank, as mine does the exact same thing. My variance is usually 1/8 of a tank in either direction however.

I am pretty sure that the fuel gauges of today <and the late 90'*> had the fuel level sender routed through the computer, and that was one of the things the computer accounted for was gas sloshing around in the tank. With ours it is a matter of introductions <fuel gauge sender, meet fuel gauge needle. Fuel gauge needle, meet fuel gauge sender>
