Default A/C issue...

ok.. this is kind of odd.. but my a/c will be set on full blast and run fine, and occasionally shut off completly, but the display will still say its fine... yesterday while driving the a/c cut out, and i punched the horn out of anger.. NOW everytime the air cuts out i just honk the horn to get it to come back on.. funny.. but an annoyance, any ideas what going on?

Does the compressor stop working, or is it that the blower stops?

Next time that it stops, try tapping the blower motor with the butt end of a screwdriver, or something similar...see if it starts up again. If so, it'* likely the blower motor going out.

It'* under the hood, attached to the firewall, about in the middle. You'll see the motor end of it, a black cylinder shaped object.

Yep, just replace mine. whenever it quit I would tap it with wrench a couple of times to get it started again.

This could also be the blower control module that is located in the top of the blower box.

Intermitants of this type are usually not the blower going bad.. bad blower would be when it runs slow or doesn't want to run at all.

Default A/C issue

I am new here. First day/first post. I found you all after being ripped off by dealers and other 'service' shops here. Trying to investigate my problems myself. Please bear with me. If I am understanding this issue, I think this is what might be wrong w/ my 01 SSEi. I leave the climate control on a certain temp and sometimes it will come on and sometimes not. It happens to either the A/C or the heat. It says that it is on, and the little bars move like it'* blowing air, but nothing. I live off of a bumpy road, and when I hit a bump with my right tire, the heat came on. Now, whenever the heat or A/C won't blow, I hit a bump. It turns on. What do I tell the guy that is getting ready to help me learn to be a big girl and work on my own car?
Any and all help is appreciated.
