Sunroof Issues
This site has been a great resource over the past while for me while getting some work done on my car (97 SSEi) with about 200,000 MILES on her. She'* been great but now has a few things that have to be looked at.
My sunroof has stopped operating. When I depress the switch, I hear a click come from the motor behind my head but it doesn't do anything. What can I check or should I just bite the bullet and take it in to a glass shop or heaven forbid, the dealer?
Thanks

The fuses are fine, I am just wondering if it could be a faulty relay, if the actuator is shot then I'll have to live without a sunroof, the actuator is about $450-500 Canadian + the labour to install it. I love my sunroof but not that much.
Thanks for the reply.

I recently changed my sunroof gasket and it has a tendancy to stick in one corner. When this happens, the sunroof module senses the increase in current and stops the movement.
Also, during the removal and reinstallation of the glass, a screw fell into the track. I thought I broke the damn thing cause it would only open about an inch then "click".
Does it tilt to vent?

1) Does it make any difference which way you press the switch?
2) Have you tried "helping" the glass move in the desired direction while holding the switch, in case the mechanism is a little gunked up?
On my sunroof, if I don't hold the switch down until it'* _completely_ finished with its closing move (from either position), it'll sometimes refuse to go to the other open setting until I hit the button a second time. (i.e. First press completes the previous cycle; the second press finally gets it going where I want it.)
Since you hear the click, the next step should be the motor activating. If it'* not, it'* either internally gunked-up, or stuck trying to drive a mechanism that doesn't want to move.
3) Was this an abrupt failure (i.e. it worked fine yesterday) or something that came on gradually?
