Default Tail Lights

Two of my tail lights burnt out so I went to get some new ones. I got the ones listed in the book at crappy tire, and they aren't close to what the bulbs actually look like. My FSM says that the number is 194 (and so did crappy tire). What am I missing here?

Right!!! Although the 194'* are listed as Tail Lamps, I think you meant your Stop Lights.

You can look it up.

That would be the one guys, thanks. I didn't see any of those little 194 bulbs in the tail/brake lights, just the 2057'*.

The 194'* would be for license plate illumination.

I went to replace them, and those are the right ones. The sockets had this yellow crap on the inside that seems to be preventing them from making connections. They work only if I hold them down. So, should I clean the crap out and use some other paste or something to put them in? Anyone know what I'm talking about?

Thanks

The "yellow crap" is just dielectric grease that'* put there from the factory to keep moisture and stuff from building up. That shouldn't effect the operation of the bulb. Sometimes the taillight bulbs can go in 2 different ways (not sure if that'* the case on the bonne'*) but that usually make is to you have to push them down to make them work.

On the 194'*...if I remember properly they are pinch bulbs and the wire to conduct is against the glass. pull the wire out a little so when you put it in it is pushed back to the bulb by the socket. this will ensure a good connection.

Boy do I feel dumb. You have to push em down and then twist them. I thought they were just pushed in. Maybe that would explain why I had a hard time getting them out.

Oy...

Anyway, they work fine now. Thanks for the help guys!
