Tach
I need some help w/ my remote start install. Is there a valid tach wire source on the inside of my car that I can tap to, if so, where is it and what color is it? I have a 2001 SSEI w/ a tach display, but I do not know if the RPM gets converted to a analog voltage of some sort before being displayed on the console. I know I could run a wire out to my motor to the real tach wire, but I don't wanna do that if I do not have to. Could someone help...
Thanks,
Jesse

I believe I have it figured out. There is a white wire that runs to the console from the PCM, but it pulses twice per revolution. There is also a medum resolution speed signal (blu/blk) and low resolution speed signal (purple/white) that run into the PCM. I believe it is one of those I need to tap to, if anyone can offer help, as to which one, it would be beneficial.
Thanks....
Thanks....

Most GM'* are purple/white at the source, and white more near the bcm/pcm/whatever it'* going to.
I'd just meter and find out.
Oh, and be sure to measure AC!

I found it, it is the white wire on the connector underneath the steering wheel. There are two though, one is ignition, the other is tach, the tach reads about 4 V AC at idle speed.
