Default i've put off fixing my hvac too long

Well, I've put off the hvac fix for too long. I used to just deal with the flashing display, then i was forced to cycle the temperature control a couple of times to get it where i want. However, now i get nothing but cold air. My mix doors have seized. Once in awhile i hear a loud thud from under the passenger side dash, but still not true heat, just luke warm crap. Now its november, and I'm starting to have problems defrosting my windshield. With michigan winters, its going to be impossible to clean my car off in the winter. I would like to just force my mix doors open to full heat, since I am selling the car in the spring and dont' care to put anymore money into it. Do you guys think this is conceivable? Should I just fix it like a good responsible owner? How long did it take for those who had the problem to fix it? I have the gm service manuals and I"m going to start going thru the dash removal procedure. Now final exams are approaching, what damn timing i have. I guess I can only blame myself. Any information would be helpful. I would REALLY love for someone in the area to assist me. I will provide beer, bitches and food JK on the bitches, thats your own problem.

Ahhh, you can't retrieve the climate control codes yourself... This is where you may want to start, that way you'll know the problems.

However, it does sound like the hot/cold air mix door.

For some reason I can't find the link where the guy actually cut a hole in his ductwork to fix it.

I had the same problem. I spent about 4 hours but just couldn't get to the part (it'* behind the air bag frame). I did move the actuator back and forth couple of times. Knock on wood, since then my problem is gone. Heat works great, and my temperature guage doesn't flash indicating a problem.

It may be worth trying before cutting the duct. Good luck - I know the winters - they're not any better up here in Canada!
